Traditional Turkish coffee with mastic flavour. Mastic is a resin obtained from the mastic tree. It is commonly used for baking and cooking, adding its aroma to foodstuffs such as brioches, ice-cream and other desserts. In Turkey, mastic is widely used in desserts such as Turkish delight and in soft drinks. It's added to Turkish coffee as a refreshing, sweet flavour.
Turkish coffee is prepared in a cezve, a special small pot with a long handle that is traditionally made of copper. Cooking it in a cezve will give you the thick foam on top. Serving the coffee in Turkish demitasse coffee cup with a glass of water and Turkish Delight is also part of the ritual.
